Chairing the Challenge Blocks
This is the 2009 Challenge Block fabric with a few sample blocks. The fabric is in a kit
that has apx. a 9" x 11" piece, with the Challenge Block rules. The kits are $2 each and can
be purchased at any Idaho PieceMakerS monthly meeting. They are also available at Knit One, Quilt Too in Kuna.

The challenge is to use 2/3, or more, of the fabric when constructing a 12 1/2" block.
You can make any design you want. As you can see in the pictures below, we have a very large variety of themes and block
designs submitted. Finished blocks can be turned in at our meetings, or dropped off at Knit One, Quilt Too.
The deadline for submitting blocks for the 2009 Idaho PieceMakerS Quilt Show is July
31, 2009.
Winners
of the 2008 Challenge Blocks!
The public voted
for their 3 favorite blocks Saturday, at the Idaho PieceMakerS Quilt Show. The voting stoped at 3pm on Saturday, then
the final count was completed, and the winners were announced. Each winner received their winning block and picked 11
more blocks -1st picks first, 2nd picks second, etc., with the 5th Place winner receiving the remaining blocks.
(The number of winners is determined by the number of blocks turned in, with 1st Place always having a total of 12 blocks.)
The blocks were rearranged for display during the remainder of the Quilt Show. Hopefully, the winners will assemble
their blocks into a quilt and bring them back the next year to display at the Quilt Show. It is really fun to participate,
even if you don't win.
